A GOOD DAY OUT

A Good Day Out - the Wild West of Beaches Pub Rock & one for tha history book - back next year🤘🏼

If you didn’t get to experience the heady days of pub rock in the late 70s and early 80s, before regulators, developers and pokies killed the Northern Beaches live music scene, A Good Day Out @ 7th Day Brewery was a celebration of its return - to Brookvale - and a glimpse of what it used to be like back in the dayIn those earlier decades venues up and down the Beaches hosted live music every night of the week with the likes of Midnight Oil, Celibate Rifles and early career INXS, as well as touring artists like The Cure, Dead Kennedys and The StranglersYesterday was an exciting and powerful expression of contemporary pub rock on the Beaches, masterfully curated by The Good Kids. The early afternoon bands, from 7th Day’s Grom Music Month, demonstrated an abundance of emerging local talent that can energise an all-ages crowd. By the time the sun was setting and Ghazza, the first of three headliners, hit the stage the vibe was raw and untamed. The (shirtless) Darrans whipped up the mayhem and The Good Kids brought it all home with their own brand of DIY good times, capping the night with a raucous version of Pink Floyd’s ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ - Leave them kids alone! Awesome! And all for a good cause - raising $20k the great work Surfers for Climate are doing to save our oceans - Surf & Music - it’s the best mix!🤘🏼
