2021 So far…. Jan & Feb recap.

I guess we can all agree that the 2020/2021 Christmas holiday period was strange to say the least. We closed up the taproom between the busy few weeks of the year, resulting in a real shift in our operations here at 7th Day Brewery during those strange times.

On Friday the 4th of December after 4 months of exploration we arrived at an extension of 7th Day Brewery drink range and landed with RIPL Seltzer ~ a refreshing alternative to hard-hitting mixer drinks and full-bodied beers. Our range consists of four flavours. Peach & Ginger, Lime, Passionfruit & Pineapple and Blood Orange and Acai. Staying true to our 7th Day brand, RIPL supports others ~ but to a new level. For every can sold we donate 10c to Waves for Water ~ an international, non for profit organisation that helps provide clean drinking water to those who need it ~ we call this the RIPL effect. Ripl Seltzer took off with a roaring start…A super fun launch party and a backlog of order through the roof. We were happy to join to Seltzer industry!

For the remainder of December, we celebrated our Christmas Advent Calendar with daily deal for the whole Month of Christmas! Giving awesome deals of our Merchandise online, beer deals and buy 1 get 1 free offers. December was killer for us! Our Christmas packs also sold through the roof!

It was only a few days before Christmas when the whole Northern Beaches went into lockdown due to a COVID-19 hotspot in the north end of our area. Forced closures of all bars/pubs/restaurants around town took place, and we saw a peak in our online services to help us survive through the unknown. The support from our local community was inspiring and majorly appreciated!

January and February we kept our heads just above water, adapting back to the tight venue regulations and no standing rules, cutting back trivia and live music and working with what we had. With no choice but to push our wholesale side of the business, we found ourselves in a total of 47 venues and bottle-shops across inner and wider Sydney! Things started to gain traction again.

At a usual fast pace, we end up in March…already 3 months into 2021 and exactly a year after the initial COVID-19 outbreak and closures. Things are starting to go back to normal (fingers crossed) and for the first time in 12 months we are able to stand and drink again from today! #standupforthebeers

If the last year has taught us anything, it has taught us understanding, patience (a sh** load of it) creativity (remodelling business) and of course, unity ( because we all needed to work together to work out how to get past this)

KegSwappa is a vacation inspired brainchild of two Northern Beaches Dads (Ashley & Johnny) who met on the road while touring around Australia. “The Brew Tour”, as their wives affectionately called it (they think!), included several brewery stops because they wanted to support local businesses and because it was market research for Ashley who is the CEO of 7th Day Brewery. On one of their late-night sampling/solve the world rambling sessions they talked about how much waste there is with the current beer distribution model for take away beers. In the morning the waste problem was still in front of mind – the joys of camping in the bush where you have to carry all your rubbish. Over several more nights of healthy debates, the idea of KegSwappa was born.
