KegSwappa is a vacation inspired brainchild of two Northern Beaches Dads (Ashley & Johnny) who met on the road while touring around Australia. “The Brew Tour”, as their wives affectionately called it (they think!), included several brewery stops because they wanted to support local businesses and because it was market research for Ashley who is the CEO of 7th Day Brewery. On one of their late-night sampling/solve the world rambling sessions they talked about how much waste there is with the current beer distribution model for take away beers. In the morning the waste problem was still in front of mind – the joys of camping in the bush where you have to carry all your rubbish. Over several more nights of healthy debates, the idea of KegSwappa was born.

7th Day Brewery opened its doors on 27th October 2018 young and fertile, with hopes and dreams of becoming the place where everyone wanted to be when they thought of a great local spot to drink great craft beer. Boy, were we surprised at the love and support from the wider community and chuffed by the love and relationships formed from entering the brewery doors. Celebrating our first year of being open was a milestone - (back when big groups were a thing) we had roughly 150 people spaced over the night of our first birthday, dancing to the live local band and eating Pilsner inspired beer cake (Pilsner was our first ever beer). Getting a business up off the ground in the first year and making it successful is hard work - but with the teams time & effort and general support from all you guys, we continued to grow and spread our wings into bottle shops and other venues in our local area! What’s a start up without its initial challenges?

But if we’re going to talk about business challenges...hows 2020 & COVID-19 for a spanner in the works. We momentarily shut our doors and put our thinking caps on to try stay afloat during the few months from March. Having the support from the community made a huge difference as to how we rode out the lockdowns and restrictions, and to this day we thank you for helping keep your local afloat. To celebrate our survival of 2020 (so far  ) and turning 2, we threw a (covid-style) party, and danced in our chairs to live music all night.

7th Day Brewery appeared on Channel 10 reality TV show, The Bachelor Australia on Thursday 20th July Season 8 Episode 4 as the 2020 Bachelor, Locky and his date have a private date amongst the festoon lights and brewery tanks.
