Sinner Belgian Blonde - 2nd release of Making Waves 2022

The series is a collection of somewhat unconventional brews that pave the way for making a difference, pushing boundaries, creating waves from what we usually do, and of course, creating a thirst for excellence. ⁠

The flavour profiles and illustrations of this limited series are edgy, quirky and break the mould from our core beer range. Though at the same time, each beer style and title will have a depth of meaning which will always pay homage to our core values of Drinking Good and Doing Good.

We would like to present to you, the 2nd release beer of our limited edition ‘Making Waves’ series 2022… Sinner - Belgian Blonde Ale! This might look and pour like an angel but there is a devilish kick to this Belgian Blonde style beer. At 6.7% ABV it’ll pack a satanic punch. 

This particular beer release goes side-by-side with the 4th release of Making Waves Series (yet to be announced) though the names lend themselves to a character or personality, one good & one bad. The character pays homage to who we used to call EJ that is seen on some of our shirts and other merchandise since we were founded. He is the higher being of our religion, and he certainly displays the satirical idea that our company brand has based itself off. This ironic title to its beer style lies in the question of what its counterpart is? With a Sinner, there is always a saint nearby…

The idea behind the ‘7th Day Brewery’ is to create and celebrate a social beer

after a hard week of work. It draws on a slightly ironic play on the ‘day of rest’ because Beer is our religion and the brewery is our church. Our ‘religious’ belief system consists of community values and doing good, by supporting where we can. Though we take it to a level that includes craft beer, drinking, socialising and having a good time.

YTG Cherry Sour Beer Launch + International Women's Day

Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.

Let’s celebrate all the boss women in the workplace and more importantly the women in the Brewery, otherwise known as a male saturated industry. It's about empowering, validating and appreciating what women bring to craft beer world!

'“The first release YTG cherry sour beer is one that I hold pretty close to my heart - not only is it the first sour beer mike and Kobey have ever made, but it is also dedicated to international women’s day and this years theme #breakthebias, empowering females that work in what otherwise would be known as a male saturated industry. 

I love that YTG Cherry Sour is a collaboration and birth child of both the males and females that work here at the brewery. The fact that it was the males here at 7th Day Brewery that fronted the idea to create a big campaign and make it the first release of the series was so enlightening to see!

Working as the only female on the operations team of 7th day brewery, I feel quite liberated and proud that I’ve been able to push myself, stand out amongst a group of (great and friendly - don’t get me wrong!!) males, and have my thoughts and ideas listened too and come to life. Being in this position, It’s given me the voice I knew was there but didn’t use to it’s full potential until now, and It’s a real treat knowing that a-lot of the things I put my mind to and work hard on, I get to see play out.


I also think it’s important to touch on the fact that International Women’s Day isn’t, and shouldn’t just be about how great women are, in all shapes and form, but more about how we’re both men and women are equal, and us as individuals can all amount to the same success that should be celebrated all year round. The break the bias theme for this International Women’s Day is a powerful message in breaking down those gender role differences and in turn, creating an empowering environment for everyone.”

What makes you proud to be a woman?
I feel proud to be a woman because although I’m only 4'11, I have a body capable to one day create little humans of my own and pass down life experiences on to them. I also love how us women support one another and build each other up to be the best versions of ourselves. 
What makes you proud of yourself? I am proud that I consider myself to be a strong and trustworthy woman who loves having a good laugh but is also able to empathise and be there for others to talk things through, as well as giving a big hug.
Do you have a personal story you’d like to share?   Something I have learnt is that perfection is not attainable, but the people who you align with, will love and appreciate you for the person that you are. I have also realised the importance of empowering and supporting other individuals, as I believe it is the little things that can make a big difference to someone’s day. “

“I am proud to be a woman because I love how United we have become in this generation. We stand up for our rights and will stand in solidarity. I am proud of the women around me for the love and support we give each other in daily life as well as the hardships we face in society. I believe one day women will become equal to men and that day will be a day to celebrate”

“I think I feel pride in women when I see how truly capable we really are. The patriarchy is insidious - a force that has been difficult to firstly comprehend, and secondly, brake. It is the resilience that I see within the women I admire the most, my friends and my mother/sister where I feel the most pride.

What makes you proud of yourself?

While I still have a lot to learn, I think the one thing that makes me proud – truly proud – of myself is my writing.

I have many personal stories that unfortunately I do not feel comfortable sharing. So, perhaps this will be less a personal story, and more a description of experiences that has massively shaped me as a person.

My love for music has often shielded me from the uncomfortableness of everyday life. One of my biggest inspirations and personal idols is Amy Winehouse. I started listening to her properly when I was about fifteen: riddled with angst and very, very confused. For me, Amy is the pinnacle of woman in music. In interviews, she is sharp and witty. Her lyrics take this same comedic edge, yet also revel with the more uncomfortable truths about womanhood: heartbreak, addiction, obsession. Underpinning all this is a pop-orientated jazz: a beautifully melancholic sound that balances the grittiness of her lyrics. The tragedy of her death has initiated conversations about the way woman are treated by the mainstream media cycle; vicious and scathing. It is in her music and her story that I feel a deep appreciation for my gender.”

On Friday 5th March we attended the Northern Beaches Council’s International Women’s Day Breakfast event at the Novotel Manly - A few days earlier than the actual IWD date. With a well ran event and presence from amazing females & males in the room, it was a wholesome and empowering morning of discussion, inspiration and donation. We were also proud to be sponsors of this event and contribute to the donation made to Northern Beaches Woman Shelter and Women & Children First. We couldn’t of been happier to attend and help where we could.


Yeah the girls', the meaning of the phrase YTG, is used in the title of this brew to celebrate and to be dedicated to all social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women all around the world. Fitting as it may be, our 1st release for the 'Making Waves' series is one that coincides with, and directly supports International Womens Day 2022. Despite how the phrase may be used as times, both YTG and IWD are ultimately about promoting gender equality - Which is what we truely believe in.

For this product launch campaign we have partnered with 'Dress for Success' and have aligned with the Australian 2022 campaign - 'Empower Hour'. Dress for Success is a global not-for-profit organisation that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. They take women from welfare to work with practical tools, advice, and support. By providing a holistic program of work wardrobe, job search and personal development workshops, and career coaching, we are helping Australian women empower themselves to get back on their feet and become financially independent.

Their theme for this year is #BreakTheBias and that's what we aim to do with our Female dedicated beer in what is known as a heavily saturated male industry.

 For the entire month of March, we are donating $1 sold from every pint of YTG Sour Cherry in the taproom to the Dress for Success organisation in support of their 'Empower Hour' campaign.

INTRODUCING, our 12 month long, limited series, Making Waves

Our collection of somewhat unconventional brews that pave the way for making a difference, pushing boundaries, creating waves from what we usually do, and of course, creating a thirst for excellence. 

How Making Waves begun.

The idea behind the ‘7th Day Brewery’ is to create and celebrate a social beer after a hard week of work. It draws on a slightly ironic play on the ‘day of rest’ because Beer is our religion and the brewery is our church. Our ‘religious’ belief system consists of community values and doing good, by supporting where we can. Though we take it to a level that includes craft beer, drinking, socialising and having a good time. 

The beer making began as a mini home brewery set-up in Mike’s garage (breaking bad style) by Curl Curl beach. A year or so later, the beer and company idea was crowd-funded at North Curly Surf Club into what we now call, 7th Day Brewery. The crowd gave ‘birth’ to us, so we like to give back to the wider community the way they gave us life…and meaning.  That's where Drink Good, Do Good comes in! Where possible we like to participate in charity events / supporting local businesses, sporting teams, events and initiatives - it's all about the local community.

To make a difference, you’ve gotta make waves. 

So when will you see them?

We’re releasing 9 beers as a part of this series, over the next 12 months, every 6 or so weeks, and they are all being both canned and tapped for a limited time each. Staying true to our community and supporting local creatives, we’ve engaged with Brent Smith as our ‘Artist in residence’ for 2022 to create the entire suite of designs for our 'Making Waves' series. His Illustrations and design tie in with our branding, whilst also revealing a unique and entirely fun imagery, that is ‘making waves’ away from our original visuals for the brand.

Our 'Artist in Residence’ for 2022

Brent is a Designer, Artist, Illustrator, Muralist, Pattern Maker, and Art Director from our Sydney’s Central Coast, commissioned to create a-lot of graphics and illustrations for big brands such as Red Bull, canon, Bacardi, Globe, Absolut, Westfield, Adobe - and we’re happy to be the first Crafty brewery to work with him.

Bold colours, bold lines and humour is seen throughout his work and are the distinct factors throughout all his work! We wanted to work with Brent to add those wild, cartoony characteristics and bright, fun colours into the series of craft beers that are clearly separated from our core range brews.

BiffyBrentano makes waves, and we wanted to tap into his creative ideas.
